Later this month, the New York–based British artist Nicola Tyson, who is known for her slyly humorous, psychologically compelling figurative paintings, will have a new book published in a limited edition by her New York and London galleries, Petzel and Sadie Coles HQ. Titled Dead Letter Men, it includes letters she’s written to a number of deceased artists, including Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon, along with some of her own photographs. Ms. Tyson has kindly allowed us to share her letter to Bacon, at left. —A.R.

Thank you to the artist, Petzel and Sadie Coles for allowing us to publish this excerpt from the book.
