UNION CITY – Everybody’s other favorite North Hudson County warlord today reiterated his support for Democratic gubernatorial candidate state Sen. Barbara Buono (D-18).
The same party nemesis of state Sen. Brian P. Stack (D-33), state Senator/North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco (D-32) issued his official endorsement of Buono on the same day the party chairman from Hudson, Passaic and Bergen backed the gubernatorial candidate just over a week ago in a move first reported by PolitickerNJ.com.
Today on a stage in Union City, Stack all but liplocked Republican incumbent Gov. Chris Christie, who bashes Sacco every chance he gets while lauding Stack.
“I think all we can do is make sure that Senator Bouno gets a great vote in North Bergen,” said Sacco spokesman Paul Swibinski.
“It’s early in the process,” he added. “Nick always supported Democrats. He likes Senator Buono as a candidate. He likes her better than Jon Corzine. Barbara Buono is a very good candidate to hold the Democratic Party base. She’s a true progressive who will have the support of core constituency voters, including labor. Right now, Chris Christie is popular because of Hurricane Sandy.”
Like Stack in the neighboring 33rd District, Sacco regulalry posts 10 or 12 to 1 drubbings of challengers.
“I’m very certain Senator Buono’s vote will be simlar to the vote Senator Sacco and Assemblyman Prieto and Assemblywoman Jimenez receive in the district. It’s going to start right at the top.”
What about Sacco’s availability as a Buono organizer and fundraiser?
“He rarely gets involved in that,” Swibinski said. “He does make campaign contributions.”
As for Stack’s pro-Christie school event today, “Everybody is free to make their own decisions, we’re not commenting,” the spokesman said.
