BuzzFeed, which has been on a seemingly endless hiring spree, adds Entertainment Weekly‘s publicist Cat Bartosevich to their roaster. Ms. Bartosevich, who will be the website’s press director, will be in charge of promoting editorial content for the brand’s entertainment, lifestyle and celebrity verticals.

“I’m thrilled Cat, a rockstar in her field, is joining us to help bring attention to the amazing stories we’re telling about entertainment and culture,” said BuzzFeed’s editor in chief Ben Smith. “She’ll be key to shaping BuzzFeed’s brand and bringing us to new heights in 2013.”

At Entertainment Weekly, Ms. Bartosevich was a press manager for the magazine and website.

“I am thrilled to be joining the BuzzFeed team and working alongside the most innovative editorial and business leaders in social news,” Ms. Bartosevich said in an email announcement. “They’ve set the bar with their forward thinking formula focused on social, and yet, authentic and inviting journalism at the core.  In the coming months, I look forward to expanding BuzzFeed’s entertainment footprint and sharing more of their long form journalism.”

Gotta hand it to Ms. Bartosevich–jumping from EW, which, as a magazine owned by Time Warner is facing a less than certain future as sale rumors continue to swirl and layoffs have already begun, to BuzzFeed definitely seems like a smart move, from a publicity stand point.
