As part of The Armory Show, which starts tomorrow at Piers 92 and 94 if you can believe it, the artist Cary Leibowitz has installed a large sculpture along the Hudson River that will be visible to all visitors to the fair. It says: I NEED TO START SEEING A THERAPIST.
The feeling’s mutual, buddy.
The piece, one of the public commissions included in the fair, is presented by the Lower East Side gallery Invisible-Exports. In addition the Armory, this week New York will be home to a trove of other art fairs–including the ADAA Art Show, Independent, Volta, Scope, among others–and everyone in the art world will inevitably be shell-shocked and exhausted by the end of it. Why not just preemptively check yourself into some kind of lovely psychiatric center now, rest up for a week, and save yourself a lot of trouble?
