The Union County Democratic Organization will back challenger Adrian Mapp this year over incumbent Plainfield Mayor Sharon Robinson-Briggs.
“The community cries for new leadership,” said Union County Democratic Chairwoman Charlotte DeFilippo. “The municipal chairman sought to bring all options available and the best option is Adrian Mapp.
Sources told PolitickerNJ.com that Robinson-Briggs – a two-term incumbent – didn’t poll well heading into the election.
She beat Mapp four years ago.
But this year, with the organization and local New Deomcrats aligned, “I’m confident he will prevail,” DeFilippo said.
