EDA head: Agency will move forward with $25M tourism marketing effort

TRENTON – Economic Development Authority CEO Michele Brown said Wednesday the agency intends to move forward with a $25 million tourism ad and marketing campaign, an item that was on the board’s agenda Tuesday but was tabled.

Brown, appearing before the Senate Budget Committee, said the reason it was tabled was because the final details were still being worked out, and the tabling has nothing to do with whether or not it’s an acceptable use for federal Sandy recovery money.

“It’s still our intent to move forward… as soon as possible,” she said.

Brown said there are still questions on “Who was going to cut the final check” and she did not want to have the board give authorization on a matter “that would have to be done by  someone else.”

Nonetheless, Brown said the EDA has received solicitations from four different advertising or marketing agencies, both in-state and out-of-state.
