Federal judge allows Birdsall to continue with bankruptcy proceedings

TRENTON – A federal judge is allowing Birdsall Services Group to proceed with its bankruptcy filing.

Judge Michael Kaplan issued an order Monday allowing the company to continue with the proceedings after the state’s Attorney General’s office hoped to have the filing dismissed, according to court documents.

The Attorney General seized Birdsall’s assets after a grand jury indicted the firm and seven former executives for conspiracy and money laundering. They allege company officials were involved in a scheme to funnel more than $686,000 through employees to elected officials.
