Both sides rolling out endorsements as JC mayor’s race hits home stretch

Jersey City Mayor Jerry Healy, who was scorched in a Star Ledger endorsement of his opponent this morning, rolled out a fresh endorsement, this one from a group of local ministers.

The following ministers threw their support to Healy this morning:

Reverend John McReynolds ~ Mount Olive Baptist Church

Reverend Simon Dingel ~ Central Baptist Church

Reverend Eugene Overstreet ~ New Covenant Baptist Church of Christ

Reverend David Webb ~ Good News Bible Mission

Reverends Theodore & Catherine Frazier ~ Gethsemane Baptist Church

Reverend Joseph Jones ~ Monumental Baptist Church

Reverend Nathaniel Legay ~ Metropolitan AME Zion Church

Reverend Timothy Porter ~ Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ

Reverend Jose Lopez ~ President of the Hispanic Pastors Association

Pastor Robert Blount ~ Emmanuel Pentacostal Church

Pastor Joshua Rodriquez ~ Cityline Church

Reverend George Maize ~ Presiding Elder of the AME Zion Jersey City District

Reverend Mario Gonzalez – Senior Pastor, Hope Center Tabernacle

On the Fulop front, U.S. Rep. Donald Payne is up in Jersey City with a robocall supporting the downtown councilman.

Fulop is not without his own religious support.  In November, he received the backing of Rev. Reginald Jackson, formerly executive director of the Black Ministers Council, and about a dozen other local ministers.
