Buono to meet with Obama

Update: An earlier version of this story reported the meeting between Obama and Buono was private. The information was according to a campaign spokesman, who later said it was a misstatement.

 

ASBURY PARK – The state’s presumptive Democratic gubernatorial nominee is said to be meeting today with President Barack Obama.

State Sen. Barbara Buono’s campaign spokesman, David Turner, told PolitickerNJ Buono was set to have a meet and great with Obama before the president makes public remarks on the Asbury Park boardwalk.

“Senator Buono had the opportunity to speak with President Obama prior to his remarks,” said Buono campaign spokesman David Turner. “She is supportive of the President coming here to keep an eye on the rebuilding and use of federal funds on the Jersey Shore.”

The president’s motorcade arrived in the shore community at about 1 p.m. Obama is touring the shore with Republican Gov. Chris Christie – who is running for re-election.

Obama and Buono were set to meet inside the Asbury Park Convention Hall, Turner said.

Turner did not say how long he expected the meeting to last.

Christie is expected to introduce Obama.

Buono to meet with Obama
