Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-3) of Paulsboro, said he hasn’t seen all the details of the conditional veto of the password protection bill regarding social media accounts he sponsored.
However, from what he’s heard, he believes the governor’s recommendations could be acceptable. His main concern is making sure employers cannot ask for someone’s password for their social media accounts.
“The core foundation of the bill seems to be in place. (Employers not being able to ask for a) password is the big issue,” he said. “If it is what I think it is, it’s considered reasonable.”
In his message, Gov. Chris Christie recommended scrapping a job candidate’s ability to sue, and replacing it with giving the candidate the option of reporting the allegation to the commissioner of the Labor Department.
