Roy Cho, a mergers and acquisitions attorney and former New Jersey gubernatorial aide, has filed to run for Congress in the 5th Congressional District.
Cho filed paperwork last month to run as a Democrat in the 5th. He will likely face former U.S. Rep. Andy Maguire in the 2014 primary. The winner would challenge Republican Scott Garrett in November of next year. Maguire filed his paperwork earlier this month.
Cho is a graduate of Georgetown Law and in addition to a stint with Gov. Jim McGreevey’s scheduling office also served as an assistant to Jamie Fox, then deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
While in law school he served as correspondence director to U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND).
Garrett is among the most conservative members of Congress and the 5th is a Republican-leaning district.
