Senator Ray Lesniak (D-20) said his chief-of-staff plans to file a defamation lawsuit against the campaign of Lesniak’s challenger, Donna Obe, for what Lesniak called slanderous attacks.
“They sent out a couple of mailers saying I’m a drug dealer’s best friend,” Lesniak said.
His chief, Tony Teixeira, charged with cocaine possession, subsquently entered into a pretrial intervention and the court dropped the charges, but Obe’s literature uses the word “convicted.”
“It’s quite frankly disgraceful and disgusting,” Lesniak said. “Donna Obe needs to apologize to Tony Teixeira. He was demeaned in a cruel manner. This was cruel. Donna Obe should never have consented to being part of this.”
