State Senate hopeful Mark Alexander is set to be endorsed Tuesday by three members of the Orange City Council, officials said.
Alexander, who is challenging Sen. Nia Gill in the 34th District primary, is getting a nod from Council President Tency Eason and council members Donna Williams and Ed Marable.
“These elected officials know as well as anyone that Senator Gill has failed to achieve the real results families in the 34th District deserve,” said Alexander campaign spokesman Matthew Jordan.
“The Star Ledger highlighted Senator Gill’s shortcomings in their endorsement of Mark [last week], writing that ‘after 12 years in the Senate she can claim no significant accomplishment. She is an average player at best, and the main reason is she simply does not devote the energy to the job that’s required to do it well,’” Jordan said. “Mark Alexander is the only candidate in this race that can offer the independent leadership we need in the 34th District.”
