The Venice Biennale’s board announced today that Maria Lassnig and Marisa Merz will take home its Golden Lions for lifetime achievement. Thanks to Artforum for sharing the news.
Those seeking a bit of Ms. Merz’s magic in New York can head over to her solo show at Gladstone’s West 24th Street space through June 8. My colleague Will Heinrich reviewed the show last month.
The artists will receive accept the award on June 1 in Venice. Both will have work in Massimiliano Gioni’s biennale exhibition, “The Encyclopedic Palace,” which runs through Nov. 24.
