Senator Jim Whelan (D-2) announced that he had a pacemaker put in yesterday at University of Pennsylvania Hospital for an irregular heart beat.
“Two years ago, I had a medical procedure known as an ablation to deal with this problem,” Whelan said. “While that worked for a while, recently the problem returned and the doctors recommended a pacemaker to keep my heart in rhythm. I am grateful to my doctors, Dr. John Welsh, Dr. Jacob Levin, Dr. John Bullinga, and the staff at Penn for the excellent care I received.”
Senator Whelan was discharged today and is not expected to miss any upcoming Senate sessions.
