U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews (D-1), who challenged the late U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) in the 2008 Democratic Primary, will not pursue a run for the seat vacated by the death yesterday of Senator Lautenberg.
“I am totally focused on my responsibilities to help my constituents and my country in the House, particularly with my new leadership role in the Democratic caucus,” Andrews said in response to an email from PolitickerNJ.com. “I will not be a candidate for the US Senate seat.”
Gov. Chris Christie today announced Aug.13 as the date for a U.S. Senate primary.
