It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Oh wait, it’s a … Google Balloon? The company that gave us self-driving cars and wearable computer glasses presents Project Loon. Thousands of high-pressure balloons circling the earth providing internet to five billion unconnected people. I wonder what’s next, a space elevator?

GarysGuide member Kohzy recently made the move from finance to startups, and he’s starting an online comic strip, The Banker and the Startup Guy, to find funny situations in both worlds. About time, I say!

And finally, big props to Mayor Bloomberg for making the case for NYC in his Stanford commencement speech yesterday. In his words:“I believe that more and more Stanford graduates will find themselves moving to Silicon Alley, not only because we’re the hottest new tech scene in the country, but also because there’s more to do on a Friday night than go to the Pizza Hut in Sunnyvale and you may even be able to find a date with a girl whose name is not Siri!”
