Bill calling on NJ Transit study released

The Assembly Transportation Committee released a bill requiring NJ Transit to study platform safety issues at rail stations.

The bill, A1195, is intended to cut down on gap injuries, according to the bill’s prime sponsor, Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-22) of Fanwood. Gap injuries refer to injuries riders incur when trying to get on a train from the train platform.

“Gap injuries seem to come in bunches,” she said.

The bill simply calls on the transportation agency “to take a good look at this issue.”

The bill was released unanimously.
