Assembly Majority Executive Director Bill Caruso is leaving his post next month, according to a source familiar with his decision.
According to the source, Caruso began announcing his departure to caucus members today.
Caruso has not said where he is going.
A former chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews, Caruso has served the Assembly majority for the past four and a half years and has helped shepherd through several pieces of landmark legislation including pension and health benefits reform and most recently a host of gun control measures.
The source told PolitickerNJ his departure has been in the works for some time.
