The Hudson County Building Trades Council is set to back Gov. Chris Christie tomorrow at an event in Jersey City, two sources with knowledge of the endorsement told PolitickerNJ.
The Hudson trades, headed by Patrick Kelleher, is the latest in a growing list of labor groups to fall in line behind the governor.
Christie already has drawn the backing of several statewide trades unions including the plumbers and pipefitters, operating engineers and laborers. Christie’s strategy in the early going has been to roll out a stream of endorsements from the traditional Democratic base in an effort to choke off support for his opponent, state Sen. Barbara Buono. To date he also has gotten the nod from several Democratic mayors.
The event with the building trades is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m.
