Incumbent GOP Gov. Chris Christie leads Democratic challenger Barbara Buono 59-29%, according to this morning’s Quinnipiac University Poll, a 2-1 margin and virtually unchanged from Christie’s 58-26% in an April 24 Quinnipiac survey.
Christie leads Buono 57-32% among women and 62-26% among men, according to the poll; and the voters approve of the job he is doing, 69-27%, the highest job approval of any governor. Voters say 65-28% that he deserves to be re-elected and give him a 63-27% favorability.
Buono gets a negative 18-23% favorability in the poll, with 56% saying they don’t know enough about her to form an opinion.
The poll also shows that 50-40% voters back the governor’s decision to hold the U.S. Senate election in October.
