North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos picked up the endorsements of two trades unions today in his bid for mayor of the City of Newark.
Ramos was backed by the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825.
“I am proud to receive these endorsement from the Carpenters and Operating Engineers, which represent the hard-working men and women of our city ” Ramos said. “As Mayor, I will fight for working families in Newark to ensure they have opportunities for employment in these unions and I will make sure Newark’s economy continues to expand so that jobs in the construction trades are plentiful.”
NRCC Executive Secretary-Treasurer Michael Capelli said the carpenters support Ramos because of the councilman’s record of support for union familes.
“We are thrilled to be working with a candidate who has consistently supported working families in Newark,” Capelli said. “Anibal Ramos is clearly the best candidate in this race for the hard-working men and women of Newark. He understands the need for good paying jobs for Newark residents and he alone has the experience to expand Newark’s economy so that all residents will benefit.”
