Truth in Tolling Act bill released

TRENTON – The Assembly Transportation Committee released bill A2413, which requires the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the South Jersey Transportation Authority to install electronic displays at EZ-Pass toll lanes of the state’s three toll roads to show the amount paid by EZ-Pass users when they pass through a toll.

The requirement would not apply to points at which tolls are collected for passage over bridges, through tunnels, or through high-speed gantries.  The toll road authorities shall determine the technology to be used for the displays and the cost of the installation.

The bill was amended to conform with the Senate bill, S1434.

Assemblyman Scott Rumana (R-40) of Wayne and Assemblyman John Amodeo (R-2) of Atlantic City abstained, while Assemblyman Scott Rudder (R-8) of Medford, joined the Demvocrats and voted to release it.
