And then on September 14 is the Popular Mechanics DIY Hackathon, where developers will inventively construct a prototype to assist with & simplify DIY projects around the home. I was recently at my buddy Jon’s Influencers dinner party, an invite-only affair where the guest list can run the gamut from the Winklevoss twins to Andre Royo, a.k.a. Bubbles from HBO’s The Wire. Speaking of The Wire, my friend Kevin told me about Defy Ventures, a NYC-based non-profit Prison Incubator that offers a year of entrepreneurial training & mentorship to people with criminal backgrounds. This Wednesday will be the launch of their third class of students. As Sir Richard Branson notes, everybody deserves a second chance.
