Democratic gubernatorial nominee Barbara Buono has yet to file her paperwork to receive matching funds in the general election.
The fourth deadline to file passed today and the campaign did not submit the paperwork. It’s unknown if Buono has yet raised the $380,000 required to qualify for the state program that provides $2 for every $1 raised by the candidate. A spokesman for the campaign said Buono is still dealing with the paperwork for online donations.
The next deadline to file for funds is not for two weeks, leaving Buono to run her campaign on only the money she’s raised until at least August 6.
Buono essentially begins the general election period with nothing in the bank as any money left over from the primary must be returned to the state.
