The Assembly majority promoted Mary Messenger to fill its executive director position.
Speaker Sheila Oliver announced to the caucus Friday Messenger will fill the position previously occupied by Bill Caruso. Messenger currently serves as deputy executive director.
Messenger has worked for the Legislature for most of her professional career and has had a hand in 25 state budgets.
Messenger graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and philosophy.
Caruso is slated to leave the position at the end of the month.
