Hoping to emulate the success of Veronica Mars, multipurpose man Spike Lee is also turning to Kickstarter to fund an upcoming project of his. According to the project’s most #blessed description, he’s seeking $1.25 million in funding to craft some new “joint” because he’s sick of Hollywood’s propensity to ignoring independent film makers, like him.
The yet-to-be-titled project’s description explains that blockbuster films, like “Super Heroes, Comic Books, 3D Special EFX, Blowing up the Planet Nine Times” are being made simply because they print money. It sounds like not all of us enjoyed Man of Steel.
But Mr. Lee would rather see the world live in a utopian society filled with independent movies because he has a “different vision” of cinema could be like. He writes:
Nothing in Life is Free and if you want something you got to pay for it. If you have liked any of my Films in the past, this is the price it costs to see another one (which can be less than the cost of one Movie Ticket). We feel the different levels on contributions make it affordable for everyone to GET DOWN FOR THE CAUSE.
Getting down for it at least requires a $5 donation and the “playa-playas” who donate $10,000 get to sit in his wife’s courtside seat at a Knick’s game. He also 100 percent guarantees that all money raised will go toward to the project and only an “Act of God” can stop it.
Hope it’s a Lone Ranger sequel!
