Last week, 10-year-old Gryffin Sanders taught a master class to preteens everywhere in how to get their parents to stop pestering them about playing too many video games.
The Colorado boy was recently in the car with his great-grandmother when she passed out, forcing him to take control of the car. With his four-year-old brother in the back, the car was barreling down the road at 60 miles an hour toward traffic. So, he pulled out his Mario Kart instincts and slid the car off the side of the road.
He recounted the experience to Denver’s 9 News:
My first thought was actually “is this a test, or what?”. I tried to wake her up at first. Then, I just took the wheel and drove it into the ditch. I wanted us to get us somewhere we could get out of the way of traffic, I guess,” he said.
Nobody was injured. The great-grandmother suffered a mild heart attack, but is expected to recover. Gryffin added that he’s “pretty good” at driving go karts, which helped him maneuver the vehicle.
Installing Mario Kart games at the DMV sounds like the optimal solution here.
