The former press secretary for Newark Mayor Cory Booker has allied herself with one of the three candidates running to be Newark’s next mayor.
A Newark native, Kimberly DeHaarte is serving as an independent consultant for Team Jeffries for Newark 2014, working on a part-time basis serving as press secretary.
A former counsel for the state Attorney General, Shavar Jeffries is running to succeed Booker in a field that includes South Ward Councilman Ras Baraka and North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos.
