A 28-year-old Idaho man who enjoyed dressing up as a dog was arrested last week for allegedly having sex with a cat on multiple occasions. Ryan Havens Tannenholz was charged in late July with six counts of crimes against nature and one count of animal cruelty.
Mr. Tannenholz is an active member of the online furry community, according to flayrah, a blog for news about furries. He enjoyed dressing up as a “sparkly” black and white dog named “Bubblegum Husky,” a blue fox and a purple dog, and had accounts on several furry fandom websites, including furaffinity.com.
Members of the flayrah community were quick to point out that Mr. Tanneholz’s actions are an anomaly within the furry community, as many participants just enjoy dressing up in fursuits and are not involved with the sexual aspects of furrydom (let alone abusing actual animals).
“It is articles like this do not do the fandom any good at all,” wrote one user. “I am sure someone will do a search on this guys name and it will list Flayrah with the story. Oh look. A furry. He was a furry. Well that makes sense.”
No word on what will happen to Bubblegum Husky should Mr. Tannenholz’s crimes land him in jail.
