In Newark, Ramos opens his central ward office

Hours after campaigning in support of Mayor Cory Booker’s U.S. Senate candidacy, Newark mayoral hopeful Anibal Ramos joined Central Ward Chairman Andre Speight, Vice Chair Bernice Robinson and Democratic district leaders today for the opening of the Team Ramos Central Ward campaign headquarters.

“The Central Ward will be key to our victory,” Ramos said. “We intend to campaign door-to-door in every district in the Central Ward to let voters know about our plans for making their neighborhoods safer, improving schools and creating economic opportunities.”

The North Ward councilman is one of three declared candidates in the developing contest to take the place of Booker, the frontrunner by far in his quest to be the next U.S. Senator.

South Ward Councilman Ras Baraka and former Attorney General Counsel Shavar Jeffries are also trying to win control of City Hall.

Speight said Ramos has the full support and backing of the Central Ward Democratic Committee.

“We will be working hard every day between now and the election to make sure Anibal is elected mayor,” Speight said. “Anibal already has a strong base of support in the Central Ward from voters who are familiar with his record as a councilman in the North Ward. Our goal is to make sure every voter in the Central Ward knows that he is the only candidate in this race who has the skills and experience needed to make life better in Newark.”

The Team Ramos Central Ward HQ is located at 271 South Orange Avenue in the heart of the Central Ward.
