NEWARK – Mayoral candidate Shavar Jeffries today formally endorsed Barbara Buono for governor.
“She’s passionately committed to cities,” said Jeffries, who said he had a bird’s eye view of Buono’s work in the state Senate when he served as assistant Attorney General.
Speaking to a group of seniors on Broad Street downtown, the mayoral candidate noted that Buono has deep roots in Newark.
“It’s a privilege and honor to receive the endorsement of Shavar Jeffries,” said Buono, who vowed to “return local control” to the Newark Public School System.
