Joanna Prosser, managing director of V&A Enterprises, which handles merchandise for London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, has been tapped by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to serve as its vice president for merchandising.

“Jo Prosser comes to the Met with impeccable credentials and vast experience in overseeing the retail operations of a major international museum,” the Met’s director, Thomas Campbell, said in a statement. “I look forward to working with her on extending and amplifying the strong merchandising legacy at the Metropolitan Museum.”

Mr. Prosser, who is the latest in a string of recent high-profile Met hires to hail from Great Britain, had been with the Victoria & Albert Museum since 2000, where she served first as director of retail, before moving to her current position in 2004.

“The Metropolitan Museum set the international gold standard for museum merchandising: it was there I first saw what was possible,” she said in a statement. “For me it is a huge privilege to be able to join a team that has led the way, and exciting to anticipate working together as we develop the next chapter.”
