The history of England’s most prestigious literary award, the Man Booker Prize, will be the subject of a new show at the Morgan Library. Called “Bookermania: 45 Years of the Man Booker Prize,” it will be on view September 13, 2013 to January 5, 2014.
Included in the exhibition will be a chronological display of every novel that has won the award since 1969. There will also be proofs, manuscripts and copies of works annotated by various judges of the prize. Winners of the Man Booker include Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie, Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee and, most recently, Hilary Mantel’s Bring Up the Bodies, which won in 2012. The Morgan has more than 400 items related to the award in its collection.
