Morning Read: ‘Put That in the Form of a Question’

Bill de Blasio on the Daily News.

Headline of the Day: “Scott Stringer Makes ‘Comptroll-ing’ Cool, Straight up..”

Runner-Up: “George Pataki: Stop and frisk Chicago.”

According to the New York Post, New York City could face Chicago’s sky-high murder rates now. The Post‘s cover this morning features public safety warnings from the Windy City after this week’s federal ruling curtailing the NYPD’s controversial stop-and-frisk policy. “Even gang-bangers admit the city of Chicago is beyond hope,” the paper ominously reports. “‘We don’t even cry at funerals no more,’ one said. ‘Nobody expects to live past 21 here.'”

Brooklyn D.A. Joe Hynes and challenger Ken Thompson also had a fiery debate last night. “You’re one of the most rash people I’ve run across!” Mr. Hynes exclaimed at one point on Road to City Hall. “You attacked Cy Vance during the DSK investigation. You pilloried him in the press. You called him unethical. That’s your style! And we don’t want that style.” The two even quibbled over television shows.

Council Speaker Christine Quinn‘s allies aren’t sweating the latest poll showing Public Advocate Bill de Blasio ahead in the mayor’s race: “It’s merely one poll, showing an implausibly giant leap forward without any concurrent seismic event in the campaign or the life of the city — and besides, a Times poll four days ago showed Quinn with a significant lead, nine points over Bill Thompson and eleven over de Blasio.”

While Anthony Weiner continued plunging into depths of new criticism, with his latest comments about the possible state of Hillary Clinton‘s presidential campaign earning a sharp-clawed push back from her rep. “We have absolutely no clue what he was talking about,” spokesman Nick Merrill said. “Maybe his campaign does. Doubt it though.”

Asked about it after last night’s debate, Mr. Weiner insisted he was joking. “I made a light-hearted answer that everyone in the room laughed at, apparently except you. For that, I apologize. I’ll try to make the jokes more obvious,” he told reporters, further challenging their question-making abilities. “We’re on the set of Jeopardy. Put that in the form of a question.”

Aaaaand here is Mr. Weiner’s former sexting pal Sydney Leathers with Sean Hannity last night on Fox News:
