New York Launches #LoveNYC Instagram Contest Since Your High Line Pictures Deserve More Attention

We didn't know there were so many ways you could show off the Empire State Building.

Are you the best at uploading over-edited pictures of trite New York landmarks to Instagram? Does that picture of the Freedom Tower from the base looking upward really resonate with your audience and garner you the social media validation that you so desperately crave?

If so show off those advanced talents and enter the city’s second annual hashtag contest #LoveNYC. Bloomberg and Co. want you to take pictures of your favorite things from the city’s five boroughs using that hashtag. If you’re really good at filters, you might win the opportunity to serve as New York’s “Instagram Ambassador” for the city’s official Instagram account, which frankly could use some TLC.

The directions are simple: Tag your photos with #LoveNYC on Twitter, Instagram and even Facebook (META) and they’ll pick the top four over filtered pictures from each borough for an exhibit at the New York Public Library. Just like The Voice, the public then vote on their favorite and the Instagram Ambassador position will be bestowed to one person from each borough.

And it sounds like someone from Facebook-owned Instagram is very excited about this publicity:

We are thrilled to see Instagram take on such a prominent role in the #LoveNYC contest. Instagram is all about capturing and sharing life’s moments with authentic and engaging content.

Keep calm and make engaging free content for the sole purpose of free publicity, everyone!
