Ever found yourself on the fifth day of a two-week hike along the Appalachian trail and thought man, “I could really use a beer?” Us neither. And yet, Gizmag reports there’s a company (based in Talkeetna, Alaska, of course) that’s created a solution to this very hypothetical problem, and it involves “beer concentrate.”
That’s right, you can now buy just-add-
“Pat’s Backcountry Beverages specializes in backpacker-friendly carbonated beverage kits. Among those carbonated beverages is, you guessed it, beer. The way the kit works is by taking Pat’s beer concentrate, which is apparently a thing, and adding
water to it in a simple, bottle-shaped carbonation system.”
Gizmag talked to Pat himself, who said this is the result of some very advanced science: “If you come into our facility, you’ll see fermentors, you’ll see a mash tun, you’ll see a brew kettle, but you’ll also see some equipment that looks like some sci-fi movie, and that’s where our very specialized technology allows us to do what we do.”
So now you can stop complaining about how you never got that jet pack.
