Are potatoes the cupcakes of 2013? Both are fattening, tasty and now have specialty shops dedicated to them in the chichi West Village. Foodie Allen Dikker, who opened an eatery in Edison, N.J., in 2011 that now has a cultlike following, founded Potatopia. The first New York outpost will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features nine different potato styles that you can customize with tons of toppings and house-made sauces. Fun potato fact: potatoes were the first vegetable grown in space.
