Friends and former colleagues of the former Sen. Jack Sinagra are creating an engineering scholarship in the late state lawmaker’s honor.
A tribute and fundraiser is slated to be held next month to raise proceeds for the creation of an endowed undergraduate scholarship at the Rutgers School of Engineering. The scholarship will be awarded annually in Sinagra’s name.
Sinagra, who also served as mayor of East Brunswick, died last month at the age of 63.
The Republican lawmaker also served as chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He retired from the Senate in 2001 after serving three terms and was later appointed chairman of the Port Authority by former acting Gov. Donald DiFrancesco.
The tribute is scheduled for Oct. 3 at the Heldrich Center in New Brunswick.
