Sources in Newark say Eliana Pintor Marin has the edge to replace Assemblyman Albert Coutinho (D-29) as the next assemblyperson from Newark.
A source told PolitickerNJ.com that the school advisory board member, a native East Warder, with a Master of Arts Degree from St. John’s University, has key support in the East, North and Central wards of the city.
If the Democratic Committee chooses Pintor Marin at its meeting on Wednesday night, the candidate would create the likelihood of a second all-female legislative ticket in New Jersey. Pintor-Marin would join state Sen. M. Teresa Ruiz (D-29) and Assemblywoman L. Grace Spencer (D-29) in representing the district.
The other all-woman ticket is in LD 11, consisting of state Sen. Jennifer Beck (R-11), Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande.
