Sen. Barbara Buono’s gubernatorial campaign was approved more than $156,000 in state public matching funds, the Election Law Enforcement Commission announced Wednesday.

The latest approval brings Buono’s total amount received in state matching dollars to $1,554,476. Buono also submitted more than $52,000 in privately raised contributions for public matching funds.

Buono is set to have cashed in on more than $2 million from the state if all of her requests for matching funds are approved by the state.

Incumbent Gov. Chris Christie has already reached the state max of $8.2 million in eligible matching funds.
