Sen. Barbara Buono’s gubernatorial campaign was approved more than $405,000 in state public matching funds Thursday, the Election Law Enforcement Commission announced.
The Democratic gubernatorial nominee has received $1,060,321 from the state so far and is currently waiting approval for additional campaign contributions.
ELEC announced earlier this week Buono’s campaign submitted an additional $146,000 in campaign contributions seeking a 2-to-1 match. It was Buono’s fourth submission for matching funds.
To date, Buono’s submitted just shy of $1 million for matching funds and has been awarded roughly $1,060,000.
Incumbent Gov. Chris Christie has received more than $8 million from the state’s matching funds program to date. He’s currently seeking approval of about $56,000, which would draw $112,000 in matching funds and, if approved, max the campaign out of the $8.2 million in eligible matching funds.
If all of Buono’s submissions are fully approved, her war chest will be about $2 million.
