Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman says she’s sticking with Sheila.
The former majority leader and Assembly Appropriations Committee chairwoman tells PolitickerNJ she’s committed to supporting Speaker Sheila Oliver for another term in the event Oliver seeks it out.
The statement comes as key leaders in the New Jersey Democratic Party intensify moves to cement Assemblyman Vincent Prieto (D-32) in the speaker’s chair.
“I like Vinnie and I respect him tremendously,” Coleman said on Friday. “But if the speaker is interested in another term to finish what she’s started then I’m going to be there.”
Coleman said she hasn’t been involved in conversations about who should serve as the Assembly’s speaker.
