The wake for Essex County Democratic Chairman Phil Thigpen will take place on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Whigham Funeral Home, 580 MLK Boulevard in Newark.

Mr. Thigpen’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bethany Church, 275 West Market Street.

Chairman Phil Thigpen died yesterday, aged 87.
