The Fernando Alonso for State Senate campaign today began running cable television ads on both Cablevision and Verizon Fios in LD 38.

The Republican challenger is trying to defeat incumbent Democratic state Sen. Bob Gordon (D-38).

The advertisement, titled “Classy,” introduces Alonso as the positive, independent alternative.

“I look forward to the people of the 38th District finding out more about me and my positive ideas for helping the middle-class,” said Alonso.  “While I have knocked on thousands of doors and met thousands of residents at community events, this advertisement will help me reach more people than ever before.”

Not a totally positive piece, the advertisement also points out what it cites as the hypocrisy inherent in Gordon’s claims in his own recent television blitz, noting that Gordon voted to stop Governor Chris Christie’s 10% property tax cut plan.

“When I saw Bob Gordon’s TV ad, all I could think was ‘really, Bob?’,” said Alonso.  “To blatantly claim to be supportive of initiatives you have voted the complete opposite of brings political hypocrisy and gamesmanship to a whole new level.”
