The Republican Senate hopeful claimed Booker “continues to hold up Gov. [Chris] Christie” as if the GOP governor endorsed the Democratic Newark mayor’s campaign.

And he didn’t. Christie endorsed Lonegan for Senate.

“How does Barbara Buono feel about being thrown under the bus?” Lonegan asked, suggesting he turned his back on his “running mate” and telling the mayor in a scuttled exchange “she’s at the top of [his] ticket.”

Booker quickly corrected the record, explaining the special Senate election is a week from tonight – not on Nov. 5 when the state will elect a governor.

“Mayor, I respect Barbara Buono and she deserves more respect from you,” Lonegan shot back.
