Stories touching on the inevitability of Bill de Blasio‘s victory are beginning to emerge. “Spoiler alert: The Democrats, from Bill de Blasio on down, will win,” the Daily News‘s Harry Siegel wrote today. “He’s going to win,” Ken Langone, one of Joe Lhota‘s biggest backers, told the Wall Street Journal.
Charter school parents are now “stuck between Lhota and a hard place,” as they yearn for a viable pro-charter candidate. “Nearly 20,000” advocates stormed across the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday in protest and The New York Times, Daily News, New York Post, Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, NY1, CBS and more took notice.
“You’ve been in politics for 25 years, and you owe a ton of favors. I’m surprised you still even have your own soul,” Republican comptroller hopeful John Burnett, who faces similarly long odds against Democrat Scott Stringer, charged in their NY1 debate yesterday. “I don’t think we have to comment on my soul,” Mr. Stringer quipped back. “It seems to be in good shape.”
Although he made it the centerpiece of his campaign, Joe Hynes doesn’t have any concrete evidence that convicted party boss Clarence Norman helped run rival Ken Thompson‘s campaign: “But the spokesman said Mr. Hynes interprets Mr. Norman’s refusal to publicly deny he was involved in the Thompson campaign as an indication he participated in it.”
