If a little humor doesn’t hurt then imagine what it can do for a campaign.
At least, that’s the strategy being used by one state senator.
Beginning next week, Senate Republican Kevin O’Toole’s campaign will begin airing a television ad that prominently features the incumbent’s family pet dog – Ollie.
The 33-second spot is told from the point of view of Ollie, who, as chance has it, thinks pretty highly of the lawmaker. Ollie tells viewers a little about O’Toole’s parents and family and boasts about the lawmaker’s successes in the Legislature in the areas of setting property tax caps, increasing school aid and helping to overhaul the state’s pension system.
O’Toole is running for re-election in District 40 against Democrat William Meredith Ashley of HoHoKus.
