Veteran Washington D.C. Political Correspondent Herb Jackson of the Bergen Record reports that Acting U.S. Sen. Jeff Chiesa (R-NJ) may run statewide again, but not in 2014.
The former state Attorney General, Chiesa is leaving the office Gov. Chris Christie appointed him to earlier this year.
U.S. Sen.-elect Cory Booker of Newark will assume the oath of office tomorrow.
“Is it something we’d think about later?” The Record quotes Chiesa as saying. “Yeah. But for now it’s not something that makes sense. My kids are a freshman in high school and a seventh grader. And while in New Jersey you can get back and forth relatively easily, you’re still away a good part of the time and they notice.”
