Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, likely incoming Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, and Albie Manzo of Real Housewives of NJ rallied last night for Stack compatriot and Democratic Assembly candidate Raj Mukherji (Hudson County).
Despite Mukherji’s well-known allegiance to Stack and brief stint as Deputy Mayor in Healy’s administration, it seems Fulop has no qualms about going all in with the former software company owner and lobbyist, who he called a “trusted friend” and whose election was “critical to getting (Fulop’s) desired (Jersey City) agenda accomplished with help from the state.” Both Fulop and Mukherji are Ivy League-educated former Marines who left successful private sector careers to enlist after September 11. Expected incoming Speaker Prieto noted his friendship with Mukherji “since he was a teenager” and that given his familiarity with the workings of the State House and its cast of characters, Mukherji will not be a typical freshman legislator.
The 220-person event drew politicos from throughout the state. Besides Fulop, Prieto, and the usual assortment of Hudson County electeds, spotted from out of town were Roselle Mayor Jamel Holley, Monmouth Co. Democratic Chairman Vin Gopal, Senator Nick Scutari, Assemblyman/Utilities Committee Chairman Upendra Chivukula, and Assemblyman/Health Committee Chairman Herb Conaway.
